What is Yin Yoga?
Yin Yoga is a complementary yoga practice to the more dynamic and invigorating yoga styles. In Yin Yoga, floor postures are held passively for several minutes in order to access a safe and positive ‘stress’ on the deep layers of connective tissue in the body. Physically, Yin Yoga restores and maintains the natural mobility of the joints, energetically, Yin Yoga enhances the body’s energetic flow and supports emotional equilibrium. This practice emphasizes stillness and silence and acts as an introduction to meditation.
What is Vinyasa Yoga?
Vinyasa means breathing and movement system. For each movement, there is one breath.
The purpose of vinyasa is for internal cleansing. Breathing and moving together while performing asanas (poses) creates heat to aid in the increase of circulation throughout the body. The combination of the asanas with movement and breath make the blood circulate freely around all the joints and through all the internal organs. Vinyasa movements are smoothly flowing and almost dance-like, which explains why it is sometimes referred to as Vinyasa Flow.

Prenatal Yoga is beneficial for women at every stage of pregnancy. Yoga readies body and mind for the extraordinarily transformative events of pregnancy and birthing, as well as the first months with your baby. Prenatal yoga enhances strength, flexibility, calm and presence, so helpful in the midst of delivery, nursing and baby-mother bonding. These classes foster community with fellow mothers and are designed for all levels of yoga experience – offering dynamic flow and restorative ease, supportive breathing practices and relaxation techniques with special attention to optimal alignment.
What is Yoga for Athletes?
Yoga for Athletes can be beneficial for athletes of all abilities and designed for all levels of yoga experience. This class offers the benefits of stretching and strengthening the athlete’s physical body to create a balance between over-used and under-used muscle groups. Yoga can benefit athletes in many ways, such as improving athletic performance, decreasing the risk of activity-based injuries, improving flexibility, balance and range of motion in joints. Yoga also helps to quiet the mind, helping to cultivate a present-moment focus for calm and clarity when training, racing and everyday. Classes are designed with a combination of dynamic flow focusing on optimal alignment, breathing practices, balance poses, core work and strength work for complimentary cross-training.

You can book private and semi-private yoga classes (up to 6 people) at Shanti Studio Wellness! Individual and small group classes are custom designed to suit the needs of each student, through optimal alignment, support with props, hands-on adjustments and a settling that allows personalized questions + answers. You can book these classes for parties + celebrations (birthday, wedding, baby shower etc) or have customized classes designed for your specific needs (beginner/intro to yoga, arthritis, orthopedic surgery or injury recovery, limited flexibility and wellness for mental health.)
